The Town

In a town,

Once filled with laughter.

Lived two girls,

Almost as close as sisters.

Were only but little children,

Didn't notice the world around them.

Spend their days swinging,

Swearing to one another.

"We shall swing forever,

Never leave each other."

Now almost a decade later,

There only remains one.

Sitting on the swing,

She looks at the space beside her.

In her town, filled with silence,

Silence never heard so loud.

Almost as if it knew,

Almost as if it was mocking her.

For the whole town had forgotten,

Leaving her to remember.

Remember a silence so loud,

A silence now filled with her forgotten laughter.
